Dodge Challenger SE @ the Track

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THE 2009 DODGE CHALLENGER SE:http://... New Jersey — The 2009 Dodge Challenger SE is the new, affordable addition to the 2009 Dodge Challenger lineup. Following the official introduction of the 2009 Dodge Challenger SE at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey, we conducted our own independent testingof the entry-level coupe with its 250-horsepower 3.5-liter V6.

The business case for the Dodge Challenger depends on volume sales, not just specialty cars like the 425-hp SRT8 model, and Chrysler believes the Challenger SE can become a mainstream coupe, a two-door alternative to the Dodge Chargerand Chrysler 300 sedans.

This is the very first chance to test the performance of Chrysler's new muscle car with the V6 engine. The data includes 0-60-mph acceleration, quarter-mile performance, braking distance and slalom speed, as well as insight from IL's test driver.

Chrysler based its introduction of the 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8, R/T and SE at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park, a traditional stop for the NHRA's professional drag-racing championship. Thanks to our portable Racelogic VBOX III testing gear, we were able to use the track for performance testing, although the lack of a suitable plot of pavement precluded skid pad evaluation.

The 2009 Dodge Challenger SE with its 250-hp 3.5-liter V6 and four-speed automatic transmission accelerated to 60 mph in 8.1 seconds (7.8 seconds with 1 foot of rollout), then reached the quarter-mile in 16.1 seconds at 88.3 mph.

The point of everyone else's comments is that nobody cares about your car, period. Anyone buying the SSSSEEEEE version of the Challenger could give a crap about speed or running circles around other cars. GG though.

It's the 4 speed automatic that kills the performance...the gears are so long that the engine can't even stay in the powerband

i agree, however, the v6 is nowhere near the level of performance as the V6 in the Camaro. oh well, great LOOKING car either engine choice.
graphixer88 (November 7, 2008 at 11:24 pm)
it actually would be capable if it was lighter. 250hp is good but not enough to move a near 4000lb vehicle.

it's clear that Dodge had no intentions of creating a capable, entry-level Challenger, same as Ford w/ the Mustang. I'm personally waiting for the 2010 Camaro V6. Chevrolet is right in taking their time to bring a well balanced entry level Camaro to market. Cadillac-derived V6, 6 speed man/auto, IRS. Now this is the formula for a sports car. Sure the SE Challenger LOOKS great, but style should always be on par with substance.

what a piece of junk my last car was a 1-8 litre corolla sportivo and it was same times as this car ,far out you americans make really bad quality cars that look ugly and go like shit this is why you need to shove 1000 hp in your sportscars to keep up with europe and japan

Maybe you're too sensitive to be reading comments on youtube?I used to own 3 Chryslers, I've owned other brands as well.

I can have the opinion as stated that they could have geared the SE a little faster, big deal. I saw those specs HERE, remember the video we're watching?

I can also state the fact as the little punk who doesn't even drive said that most will NOT likely get 25MPG with a 5.7L Hemi, MDS or not, wow big deal?
morenom1029 (October 14, 2008 at 5:14 pm)
first of all i dont think someone with the name "dodge-chrysler-sucks" should have an opinion on this car. cause youve made up your mind befor you even look at the specs.
secondly, yea sure any company can rate the mpg's at whatever they want but at the end of the day theyre still a buisness and buisnesses need reoccuring customers. so selling a car that doesnt live up to what they advertise would be down right stupid. idiot.

You attacked me, I called you out on being a cyber stalker. You go off and make a fake account. You are the one who needs the mental help. Now I will leave you alone in your padded room, psycho.
dodgechryslersucks (October 11, 2008 at 5:15 pm)
you're full of shit and can't spell either. you can't face the music that you are a dumb little punk, not even old enough to drive, that doesn't know shit about real world.I made one damn comment, in how long and I'm stalking you? I just happened upon it checking this out, I didn't say anything bad except for the 25MPG in a 5.7L Hemi, you thought you'd be getting was "unlikely", you called me a "bitch" over it and flipped out, get some mental help, you crazy mindless little punk.
yepdcxrox (October 11, 2008 at 3:38 am)
25mpg in a 5.7 VCT Hemi is possiable. You can't face the music can you? Chrysler is a great company. Nobody believes you. You have no life, you blame all your problems on everybody but yourself! You are such an idiot. PRACTICE WHAT YOU PREACH!Nazi? You just described you.

Why don't you go and leave me the fuck alone, CYBER STALKER!
dodgechryslersucks (October 11, 2008 at 3:04 am)
yeah, nice trying to tell others exactly what "you" desperately need to do not to mention saying the same shit I've said to you in the past.First, I made a simple statement, that 25MPG in a 5.7L Hemi, regardless of the claim or MDS, isn't likely (unlike you WHO IS JUST A STUPID KID THAT DOESN'T EVEN DRIVE AND HASN'T OWNED SHIT and you've freaked out.

You are facist, like a Nazi, you can't say anything, anything unless it is cheerleading nutswining about Chrysler to, or around you.
yepdcxrox (October 11, 2008 at 2:32 am)
You need to take a breath and re-examine yourself before attacking others. You have no clue what you are talking about. I left a comment stating a fact, and along comes you. You start pointlessly attacking me for no good reason. You seem to be my cyber stalker. And I doubt you ever had an LH car, as you lied about your "Mustang". You are a joke, nobody takes you seriously. You got suspended for a reason.
dodgechryslersucks (October 11, 2008 at 2:07 am)
no you don't, you are a stupid, mindless little kid, stuck on a brand image and believe whatever you are told by that brand. You have some "image" and specs written on paper smarts but YOU HAVE VERY LITTLE TO NO "REAL WORLD" SMARTS, YOU ARE NOT EVEN OLD ENOUGH TO DRIVE AND YOU HAVE NEVER OWNED AN LH YOURSELF AS I HAVE.

I wasn't trashing LH vehicles here, all I said was that you wouldn't likely see the kind of fuel economy "you believe" just because it is it's rating. Mindless little POS.
