BEVERLY BREMERS - "We're Free" (1972)

This won't be as familiar as BB's first hit, but it got a lot of airplay on WIP. It was very bold of a family station back then to play a song which espouses living together without being married. I'm guessing that the reason they did it was that first, it's musically a pretty song, and second that they believed that Beverly Bremers was going to be big in the pattern of the other emerging female artists like Carole King and Carly Simon. Of course, that never happened. I don't agree with the values promoted by the song but you have to admit they don't write 'em like this anymore. Enjoy!

I remember this song on LA radio, but it was done by a guy group.

BB sure had a great voice, didn't she?

Ha, ha, ha, I forgot how much the young Bill Clinton looked like my old boyfriend in college. I actually DID get to meet Bubba last April at a rally and shake his hand ... got his autograph, too! I thought I'd FAINT! mostly because my late mother had a crush on him. lol, what a bad boy!

This was BB's only other top-40 hit reaching #40 in the summer of '72.

I don't recall this song at all. The song has a good pop-hook-melody but the lyrics are so hokey and have the 70s buzz words "free, naturally". LOL -- "we're not forced to love each other". Thanks for posting.

I vaguely remember this song. Interesting message even if it is a bit unrealistic since there is no such thing as a truly commitment-free relationship.

I wasn't sure if I remembered this one, but as soon as it started up, I knew it. I know I heard at least song other than "Don't Say You Don't Remember" on the radio in the Washington, DC, area, and now I don't have to say I don't remember "We're Free". Thanks for posting this one.
