#1 Hüsker Dü - Zen Arcade
Inspired by fROMIOWA and dropd24 I decided to post my all-time favorite albums. I hope that more people genuinely interested in music would do this. This is the fourth track of "Zen Arcade", "Chartered Trips". "Zen Arcade" was the third record by the band released in 1984 on SST as double album. Hüsker Dü was a band formed in 1979, then as a post-punk/new wave band, but they've had by 1981 established themselves as a fast hardcore band, as evident on their first album, "Land Speed Record". By the release of "Zen Arcade" the for the first time used acoustic guitars ("Never Talking To You Again") and began experimenting with elements from psychedelica ("Hare Krsna"), jazz (as evident in drummer Grant Hart's drumming style) and a generally more melodic approach, later imitated by countless bands in the 1990s.

Husker du is an amazing band, but i don't see why this album is so great. ALot of it is thrashy hardcore punk with a few great tracks.

I remember immersing myself in this album when it first came out. The thought that these guys put this album together in one marathon session... they sweated and worked so hard to get this music out because it was just so damn important to all of us. It means more because of that.
