manna ministry cebu 5 components

Manna Ministry is an outreach program of the Jesu Christi Community of Cebu, Inc. It is the community's way of acknowledging God's generosity and an answer to His challenge, before He ascended to heaven, to tend to His sheep. At the onset, the organizers of the ministry realized that it's hard to teach people how to fish if their stomachs are empty. They also realized that it is within the realm of the governance of a country to provide for jobs and livelihood programs for the citizenry's continued survival. It is for this reason that the Manna Ministry was conceived -- which is to cater to the basic nutritional requirements of our children and impoverished brothers and sisters in the streets and slum areas in the Province of Cebu. This is accomplished by establishing feeding centers in depressed areas where a weekly feeding program is conducted.Manna Ministry survives through the generosity of concerned individuals and religious and/or business communities. Most of the contributions are in the form of food items needed for the continued existence of the weekly feeding programs. If funds are available, they are used to purchase the same food items as those that are donated as there exist, as of today, more than a hundred feeding centers in the whole Province of Cebu.Aside from the weekly feeding program, the ministry also conducts free clinic every Saturday of the week to address the physical well-being of our children in the streets and slum areas. This is made possible through the selfless efforts of our volunteer doctors and nurses. The spirit of volunteerism is something that the ministry can be proud of. To date, the ministry is lucky to have not less than 300 volunteers running the weekly feeding program and free clinic. However, there are things that need to be done that are beyond the call of duty of the volunteers. As a remedy, the ministry is employing working scholars in order to maintain the continued operations of the ministry, thus giving birth to the Adopt-A-Student Program. As of today, sixteen scholars are under the care of the ministry through its benefactors. There is no shortage of applicants for our scholarships but benefactors are wanting.Manna Ministry does not just take care of the corporeal needs of God's flock but is also concerned with their spiritual growth. After the feeding, our volunteers conduct catechism classes for our children. In order to make a more holistic approach to the circumstances of our times, the ministry decided to get involved in the effort of protecting the environment through recycling.
