Fresh Direct - A Public Disturbance


At least twice a day, a Fresh Direct truck delivers to customers in or around our apartment building.Despite higher than ever gas prices, Fresh Direct drivers leave their engines running while they take the groceries into the building.

This idling engine also causes a distracting amount of noise.

I recently brought this issue to the attention of the people at Fresh Direct and they simply toldme that the noise that was emanating from the trucks was the refrigeration units inside the truck.

As this video shows, the engine is never turned off. When the driver returns to the truck he doesn't have to start the truck he just pulls off.

Fresh Direct claims they are planning on purchasing newtrucks that limit noise and emissions, but I'll believe it when I see it.

For now, they are content with disturbing the peace of anyone whose apartment faces our street.
