Red Norvo and his Orch - "Remember" (1937)
Here is one of the sweetest arrangements that Eddie Sauter wrote for the Red Norvo Orchestra, Irving Berlin's sentimental tune "Remember." This March 1937 recording features trumpeter Stu Pletcher, tenor sax man Herbie Haymer, and clarinetist Hank D'Amico. Gorgeous big band playing at its finest. The record is played on my Sparton radio-phono console unit, built around the 8-57 AM-FM radio chassis with phono preamp input. The unit includes a "slicer" record changer and the tonearm is equipped with an Astatic ceramic phono cartridge that uses a standard size sapphire-tip needle.
For thisvideo, I mic'd the speaker at close proximity, rather than gathering the sound from further back in the room.

thanks for posting. Eddie Sauter certainly was an interesting arranger. I'd like to hear more of his stuff.

Oh thank god, someone has this one to play! This has become one of my all time favorite recordings. The feelings I get from this song, no words can fully express or explain. It's a song to be savored from start to finish, you can't go by the intro alone. Thank you so much for this clip. One day, I'll get my own 78 of this one.
