My bargain vintage stereo system

Add&fmt=18 to the URL for High Quality!** The speakers are not actually oval! Stupid YouTube is displaying the incorrect aspect ratio! **

Tuner/amp: Kenwood KR-710, circa 1980, bought at Salvation Army store for $14.99. Rated 28 watts per channel.

CD player: Realistic CD-2300, 1987, bought at flea market for $2.00

Speakers: Lafayette Criterion 50, circa early to mid '60s, bought at Goodwill store for $9.99 each. Rated for 20 watts "music power" at 8 ohms. All original paper cone speakers inside: 8-inch woofers and 3-inch tweeters, plus bass port.

CD: original 1987 release of U2's "Joshua Tree"

Recorded on my Aiptek A-HD+ camcorder in 720P 30 fps mode. Sorry for the poor audio, it has no external microphone input so I had to use its mono built-in one.

Yes, Goodwill stores around here are expensive too (like asking $40 for DVD players you can get new at walmart for $30)... I don't know what has gotten into their head to charge insane amounts. I mean, come on, they get the donations for FREE .....

It is an EXCELLENT receiver, but don't pay that much for a non-functioning one.

p.s. I'll have to do another video of this setup, because the sound is so low in this one.

Nice video, nothing better than vintage audio! Is that a Kenwood 720? I had that receiver back in the early 80s!

Thanks! I am very impressed by the clean, balanced sound of these 1960s speakers. A lot of speakers I try have either too little or too much bass and treble, but these are just right.

wow, nice setup great deal! the goodwill around my way sells stuff a little overpriced.
