Super Smash Bros. Brawl - Aug 28 08 A
Well, thank you everybody on the previous videos who gave me advice on how to improve my game. I don't know if they actually worked or not, but I've been using characters people have been asking me to use, though I don't think I managed to cover all of the list.Did I get better? You decide. I highly doubt that I did, though I'll explain below. Me playing this into the extremely late hours of the night probably didn't help.
All times are Pacific Time Zone. Greenwich Meridian Time is 8 hours ahead.
Match #1
2:06 AM
Snake
Jungle Japes
I don't think I wastoo successful here. It's pretty tough to do a match where you do nothing but grab, as sometimes you need to attack to clear people out of the way. I did do a lot of grabbing here though, and I had no expectations to win. However, I fall victim to running right into Ike over and over, but at least the stage puts Ike at a supreme dsadvantage.
Match #2
2:15 AM
Sheik
Corneria
Sheik is another character people requested me to use, and I can see why; Sheik is a character I can't normally obtain with the randomizer. Sheik and Zero Suit Samus are excluded, and I occasionally find myself using Zero Suit Samus when I get Samus and happen to use the Final Smash. That leaves Sheik as my least-played character, though it might not look that way here. I used her special attacks a lot in this match, and that's because they're shiny and new to me.
Match #3
2:26 AM
Snake
Final Destination
I continue my grabbing practice here. I'm not sure why I chose this clip, but I guess it's interesting that by sheer coincidence, there are two Snakes and two Ganondorfs here. I figure out what each of Snake's directional throws are, including his sleeper hold. I don't know if this one was one of those matcheswhere I use it, but after 12 Final Destinatons in a row, I called it quits and left the room.
Match #4
3:01 AM
Lucario
WarioWare, Inc.
and so, I apply myself to a pair of unsuspecting victims. I don't really know who S. Tor and Pelip are, but they go under "RG" in my address book. I think I gave agood first impression...though the later matches show that I'm not really able to keep it up.

I guess the controls are more sensitive in Brawl.Ah, thanks for telling me.

schools shouldn't force students to endure the bickering between parties. Then, they force us to make a choice on who we support, furthuring the divide between us.

I find it weird that a city could be like that, but I wouldn't be to surprised. There is certainly a temptation at times to stop paying attention to current events that aren't local. But that's mainly just due to how depressing most news is anymore.
Dirty Jobs, another great show, just don't watch it while eating (I've made that mistake before... Never again...). Some people really enjoy jobs like that and probably don't get paid as much as you may think. That's definitely the minority though.

I mean that information doesn't easily travel in and out of Santa Cruz; I completely lost track of current events while I was there. Most of the other students seemed happy this way.
I'd bet that a lot of the people you see on Dirty Jobs make a lot of money too; otherwise, they wouldn't be doing the things they're doing. You have people who do vital tasks, like controlling algae growth in Lake Erie or cleaning skeletons for scientific use.

Indeed. Like the people who go on reality shows and often degrade themselves on public television in hopes of winning some cash. I don't think I could go on one of those shows even if they offered 10 million. I don't need money to make me happy.
Haha, I believe its actually the local broadcaster of NPR. It sounds remarkably familiar and I'm almost positive Radio IQ is where I've heard of it. I find the BBC a really good news source.
Cultural bubble, hmm? How so?

Well, some people DO put up with stuff they dislike, either because they want to fit in or because it offers a reward if they do it (such as money).
Radio IQ sounds like NPR (National Public Radio). A lot of people I've met get their news from this radio station. But not in Santa Cruz; that place is a cultural bubble.

I agree totally. Like it or not, if something is popular, its that way for a reason. People tend not to flock towards something they dislike. I definitely don't understand art, but I can enjoy the blood and sweat that goes into a piece. Its an expression of the soul.
Radio IQ, is an all talk radio station, but I only listen for the BBC news honestly. You get much more world news than you would otherwise, and much less American political news. I'm like you and just read the highlights later.

By the way, connecting two of my statements together, modernism DID become popular. It practically ate itself like that, since modernism itself became "kitsch." That's how postmodernism began: People realized kitsch is a ridiculous concept, and postmodernists loved anything kitsch under the assumption that if a lot of people like something, that thing must be doing something right.
I'm practically the only one not watching the DNC; I'll just read about it later. (I've never heard of Radio IQ.)

I agree totally on politics. I can't watch the 24 hour news channels because of it. That's why I get my news from the BBC. We have a local radio station (you may have heard of it, its called Radio IQ) that uses it for their news broadcasts. I flip it on and listen while doing menial tasks usually.
Wow, that's exactly the kind of elite-ism that I can't stand. Do they think themselves better than the public? It sure sounds that way. The whole idea of "Kitsch" is just revolting, ugh.

I'm generally a nonconformist when I find that the minority viewpoint has some valid point and when the other side refuses to relinquish its spot. This is, of course, for things that don't have a huge impact. Stuff like politics, I just want to stay away from.
"Kitsch" is the most irritating concept to have ever come out of the art world. It's the belief in modernism that when something becomes popular, you're low-cultured if you associate with it. (What happens when modernism becomes popular?)

I've always been one to stand away from crowds, be it a popular or not. I am who I am. I make my own decisions and don't lump in with anyone.
I don't think we need enemies though. Very few people are genuinely happy with themselves. Truly, honestly happy with who they are. This lack of self valuing leads to the desire to find someone to measure yourself up to. But if you are happy with yourself, you wouldn't feel this way. At least, that's the way I feel.
A good thing too. We are all equal.

Well, I guess it's all a matter of deciding which crowd to get accepted into. Of course, you wouldn't want to be a member of one crowd and find yourself in a place full of the other kind. Nevertheless, the casual gamer is a "created" enemy, much like Saddain Hussein or the communists. Humans need an enemy to compare themselves to, and when one doesn't exist, they create an enemt out of one.
Postmodernism, thankfully, brought down that whole high-culture low-culture thing, at least much of it.

This is an incredibly small minority however. its so much easier to simply lump in with the crowd than to sit back, analyze the situation and, react in your own way to it. Why think for yourself when you can just follow the crowd and feel accepted?
I've always had a huge problem with people like those philosophical writers. Really, anyone who thinks of themselves as far elevated over the majority. In the end, we are all human, and should all be treated equal.

I use the Nunchuk scheme.

I already have all of the CD songs. Since no one wanted to pick it up, I decided to.
