Reinventing the "Wheel" Prior Art "Polytracker"

The product shown in this clip was a rather inferior competitor device. This contraption was a rotations counting wheel that would lock up after a predetermined number of wheel rotations was reached. Unfortunately the predetermined count could occur in the middle of a busy intersection!

This product was designed to work by counting wheel revolutions. Prior to installation and activation someone would survey the distance from the store's exit(s) to the parking lot perimeter.

Then the measured distances were mapped into the locking wheel's memory. This theory of operation had one fatal flaw.

The patron could travel distances less than or greater than those loaded into the wheel's memory causing the cart to lock in a dangerous location like the middle of an intersection. Doh!
