In Flames Come Clarity Cover

Hey all,It's hard to believe this one is finally done. There were numerous occasions on which I nearly scrapped this whole project. The difficulty wasn't in playing the song itself... I had already known most of it for over a year. The problem was that even though I had an acoustic, its frets were justtoo worn down to hit certain notes properly. After many many of hours of messing around with all sorts of toneport tones, I was able to find one I liked online and modified it the best I could to do the original justice with a non-acoustic.

There are a few slight improvisations in the song. Oneis the extra melody in the first short solo, as I felt the sound needed to by filled out a bit more in that spot. Also, in place of where the piano melody is, I used a distorted melody with heavy reverb. The ending also hits a different note.

I'm also trying something new, as this is my first vidto be uploaded in FLV format, which will HOPEFULLY preserve the stereo audio. Either way, if it doesn't work this time, I'll try to get it right on my next vid.

The MP3 version with stereo can be found at http://...
Also got some comments that it sounds out of tune. While there may be a sour note here or there, check out this comparison http://...

*Song was recorded first, video of me playing along to the recording was filmed and edited later*

Anyway hope you all enjoy!

Recorded inapprox... a few weeks on and off (I was lazy on this one)

On stereo sound, the volume is inconsistent. It's volume goes up and down, up and down.

I think some bends here and there were played poorly so I think that's what he meant by out of tune. For the most part it sounds in tune. And I'm positive it has nothing to do with the actual Guitar tuning, just your playing at parts. Anyway good job, nice cover.

Really awesome vid and great skills... but i think when you play the powerchords it would (maybe) sound better if you only made down stroke instead of up and down...

Used Sony Vegas Movie Studio to edit the video. If you mean how did I sync the guitars, I recorded the audio first all in N-track studio, then I recorded myself playing along to the audio. After that I synced up the video to match the audio.

what program did you use to record the video? and set the 2 guitars playing at the same time?

Nah man it's fine, I accept criticism. That being said though, I make sure I'm 100% in tune before every take, so I did a side by side comparison. Check the 2nd link to check it out. Recommended it's listened to with headphones.

I record through the Toneport which plugs into the computer's USB drive and runs through its own drive in recording programs. I've done pedals through the comp and I agree it's usually hard to find something that won't sound muddy or distorted.

do you record into an upgraded sound card, or is it the PCs standard? coz whenever i record through a pedal into the PC its always shitty quality
