Star Trek is an American science fiction entertainment series and media franchise. The Star Trek fictional universe created by Gene Roddenberry is the setting of six television series including the original 1966 Star Trek, in addition to ten feature films (with an eleventh in post-production), dozens of computer and video games, hundreds of novels and fan stories, several fan-created video productions, as well as a themed attraction in Las Vegas. The original TV series alone is one of the biggest cult phenomena of modern times and has spawned many pop culture references.Star Trek (Also known as "TOS", The Original Series) debuted in the United States on NBC on September 8, 1966.The show tells the tale of the crew of the starship Enterprise and that crew's five-year mission "to boldly go where no man has gone before." fantascientifica che ha avuto inizio nel 1966 con una serie televisiva ideata da Gene Roddenberry, divenuta in seguito tra le più famose nella storia della televisione. Prodotta negli Stati Uniti, debutta l'8 settembre 1966 sul canale NBC. Ambientata nel futuro, narra le avventure dell'equipaggio della nave stellare Enterprise della Federazione Unita dei Pianeti, intento ad "esplorare nuovi mondi, alla ricerca di nuove forme di vita e nuove civiltà, per andare là dove nessun uomo è mai giunto prima". Il capitano dell'Enterprise è James T. Kirk (interpretato da William Shatner), coadiuvato dall'ufficiale scientifico Spock, un extraterrestre proveniente dal pianeta Vulcano (interpretato da Leonard Nimoy) e dall'ufficiale medico, il dottor Leonard McCoy detto "Bones" (interpretato da DeForest Kelley). I tre, uniti da un forte legame di rispetto ed amicizia, sono i personaggi chiave della serie, circondati da un equipaggio molto affiatato.
La serie classica è composta da tre stagioni per un totale di 79 episodi.
