Ulead Video Studio 10 Plus Oddity

Ulead inserts a messed up version of the first frame of my videos randomly into the timeline. The only way to detect it is to scan through the video frame-by frame until I catch it.

That's not cool due to the fact that it takes so darn long to find (Some of my SSE videos have a quick flash during a spot, that's what this is). I use my voice as making text boxes would be a little time consuming for this observation.

Also included for the first time in this video are Subtitles for the hearing impaired. Wait wait? That right, subtitles. Only in English for now, but the hearing impaired can enjoy this too.

*shakes head* na, i currently use a digital camera to record console games form my TV. So its not direct recording by any means. That's why i asked what records you use for your console games.
Saestrol (October 14, 2008 at 5:16 am)
Wait... are you using a screen recorder for a console games?

You should use a capturing program instead. You don't have to deal with choppy image and sound issues. ishowu sounds like one.

Ah, i already know what ta use for PC recording (Mostly i use Fraps, and on rare occasions Camstudio or Hypercam). Just im still looking up info all around and deciding on what to get to record off a TV/console. I have a very good recording program on the mac computer here though called ishowu. it works far better than Hypercam other recorders for windows do. o_0; so, for emulated games...ill record on the mac. Thanks for the tips!

By the way, I used HyperCam 2 for this video. Notice how I don't have that stupid "Unregistered HyperCam2" bullcrap so many videos have?

It's annoying to see that, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

Hoo boy...

Console Games (PS2, Gamecube, Wii, Dreamcast etc.): Capture Card. A program called TVR catches this for me.

PC Games: FRAPS

Other/PC Programs: Hypercam 2

Emulation: Emulator's output renders the footage to a file.

As you can see, depending on the situation, the right program is needed.

Lol it doesn't sound too bad, really scared me at first XD
SuperSonicSanctuary (October 13, 2008 at 10:45 pm)
Yeah, i remember when i went around screen capturing alotta stuff from a MMORPG i played using Fraps. Some videos would only be a minute and a half long and easily take up a full GB. Thankfully i do have around 70 GB free on average on my HD for my PC. Though whats great- a mac computer that i share with a housemate has 300 GB of hardrive space. Easy backup space if i need it. XD

Btw outta curiosity- what screen recording device do you use to record off your console games?
Saestrol (October 13, 2008 at 10:35 pm)
Woah... well I should probably consider myself lucky I get that much 0_o

Creative Live Audigy SE (My soundcard) has an audio Environmental effect called "Hall" that was left on by somebody. I didn't notice until after, but then I'm like "Mah it's okay".
Saestrol (October 13, 2008 at 10:31 pm)
Thanks. And Yep, I found out that Hardrives are getting cheaper. So I devoted one 230 Giger to simply capturing and processing.

I capture at 1GB per minute approx so yeah, you need a lot of HD space for good quality. I could capture at 320x240, but it would look as good. Well the Maze here is a different story. I captured that at 640x240. Half the height so nearly half the size... nearly.
SuperSonicSanctuary (October 13, 2008 at 8:55 pm)
Man, that must take up alotta hardive space.>>; I still need to get a good onscreen recorder device for my TV someday (that or record on DVD, don't know which would be better). Most i ever recorded off my tv with a Digital camera was 2 hours worth of gameplay for Sonic Shuffle. I still gotta work on finishing that...

Keep up the good work on your vids btw, they keep gettin' better!
ShadowJacky (October 13, 2008 at 7:34 pm)
that's more than what I get usually :(
mario11168 (October 13, 2008 at 6:17 pm)
Sounds all.. Echoey.
Saestrol (October 13, 2008 at 4:31 pm)
Er, no way! I'm not going to do commentary on my playthroughs!

At least not yet. I need to get a labtop so I can speak without being heard by everybody first. Although maybe on a 2player video it would be different.
