good pick, just watch the surfaces he plays on i.e. good feild turf or fast surfaces. Like Oakland or Pittsburgh type fields be careful.Hitman from the Chop Shop

Man, this whole thing is Blown out of the proportion. Of Course a doctor will Recommend surgery. They want to get paid. Shawne Merriman knows what is as stake. His judgement on his knee is truly the only one that matters. "Lights Out" is good. Charger Haters, be afraid. This is Daygo year.

Merriman knows what I and other true football players know, When you love the game today is much more important than the tomorrow that may never come. I myself decided to play on n injury that ended my chances of ever playing again. But if I could do it all over again I would still rather suit up with my team than let a little thing like a ruptured ligament keep me off the field. PAINS TEMPORARY, PRIDES FOREVER!

I have to agree with KP on this one. I don't have anything for or against the chargers. I know that shawne merriman is maybe the best defensive player in the NFL. There is a fine line between being a warrior and gutting it out and doing something really stupid. And I tihnk this decision is one the stupid side. TWO torn ligaments and FOUR doctors telling him to shut it down and get surgery. Four doctors saying the same thing can't be wrong - shut it down and get healthy

The situation is a catch 22, we love Merriaman in the DC area because hes a Terp. Football is a chew you up and spit you out sport anyway, the owners don't care, they'll find another player to take your spot. don't play and some1 takes your spot and play well&you will never be the same after surgery or play and risk injury and never be the Merriman of old. Owners wont give him a contract if he goes to surgery, thats why hes playing, because he wants to be rewarded for toughness.I wish him well
